A Not So Many Miles Recap and Other Random Things!

A strange weekly recap!!

This past week I should have run a lot more than I did.  The problem was that I couldn't take my sinuses pounding anymore.  I went to the doctor and got medicine for a sinus infection.  I wanted to rest this week so I would feel better for the race in Florida.  So here is what I did.  

Saturday: 5 Miles outside
Sunday: 7.24

WOW!  I guess that was a taper!  
But I am feeling better!!

Weekly total: 12.24 miles 
Yearly total: 128.41

The rest of the week will be:
Tuesday: 3 miles
Wednesday: 3 miles
Thursday: 4 miles 
Friday: Rest 
Saturday: 2 miles in Florida
Sunday: PRINCESS HALF MARATHON!!

I am getting all ready for the race!  I can't wait.  Don't worry I will tell all about it!

Everybody is home again because of February vacation or a long weekend for Presidents Day.  We have been having a blast.  Date night with Dave...drove for over an hour and ended up at a restaurant 5 minutes from our house! At least Dave and I were able to have uninterrupted conversation.  WIth the kids we have been playing hide n seek and freeze dance party.  These kids just get cooler by the day!  I am so lucky!  




Another vacation project:
Dave made this for me, with a little help from his step mom, she made the letters with her cricket!  I wanted something to hang my medals on but I didn't want to spend money considering I only have two medals as of today!  Dave used an old wood plague that I had hanging in my room when I was little.  He sanded and painted it white.  He bought the hooks for cheap at Home Depot. I know that it is bare now but by the end of the year it will have many more medals.  We hung it in the hallway that brings us downstairs, so I will see it just about everyday!  It will be great motivation. 






Random thought~I am not sure that I am going to get to do the Disney Marathon 2014, even thought I really want to go!   I have run a marathon before so Disney wouldn't be my first marathon but it would be my first in many years.  So here is my question: 

Should I run a different marathon this year? and if so what marathon should I run?  Needs to be somewhere fairly close to Connecticut!
OR Should I wait and have my next marathon be the Disney Marathon? (For those of you who don't know...I LOVE DISNEY, I am going 3 times this year. One of the reasons why I don't think I can go to the marathon in 2014.)

First Outside Run in a Week

Today was the first run I have done outside since the Blizzard hit!  It has been warmer this week so the snow has melted a bit, but the piles are still about 1 foot to a foot and a half high.  It really wasn't bad when the cars would drive by.  I didn't feel squished like I thought I was going to feel.  

I also realized that I have been by myself without kids for over a week!!!  Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I was home with my three wonderful kids due to the Blizzard and then Thursday and Friday it was back to school.  Don't get me wrong.  I love my kids and I love being a teacher.  ( Well this is kind of a lie because I forgot that I did do some runs on the treadmill and ran to the store and doctor by myself!) However today's run  is a reminder of why I love to run.  It gives me my me time.  Having a 5, 4 and 1 year I don't get much me time.  Maybe when I take a shower but most of the time that is interrupted.  Of course at school I get my preps and lunch but I always have WAY too much to do that I never just sit and get a moment of  peace.  Again this is why I have fallen in love with running.  
I mean what is not to love about these three!  They are the best!!!!!



















Here are some of the random thoughts that I had on my run today:

Running Solo vs. Running with people
   Not really sure about this one.  I think that I would like to find a running buddy however I don't always want to run with someone because then I don't get my me time.

What to pack:
   I am leaving for Florida on Friday in the very early hours of the morning.  I haven't really even thought about what I am going to pack, or what I am going to wear for the half.  I really need to get started on this.

Warmer Weather:
  I can't wait to run in Florida.  The weather is going to be warmer.  I have really done a great job running through these cold months.  I never thought that I would stick to it but I did!  Go Me!!

Eating and Drinking:
  I need to drink more water!!!  Let me repeat that, I need to drink more water!!!!!!!!

Okay I had so many more thoughts but now I can't remember them and I have been invaded by the kids.  I hardly write these last sentences.  Oh again...I have fallen in love with running because it gives me my me time and yes I love my kids and would do anything for them but I do need my me time so I am ready to pulled in all the directions that they pull my in...get my an envelope, get me lunch...I want cereal and the crying of a waking Ashley is calling my as well as the shower.
Off to be a mommy, who has had her five miles of me time for the day.

Snow Day Number 4 and Sick!


I am home again!!!  This is the 4th snow day due to the blizzard of 2013!  I am really hoping that we will be back in school tomorrow and Friday and then we have a whole week off for Feb. vacation.  I feel like I haven't been to school in forever!  

I have had this silly fool cold now for about a two weeks and today I had enough so I went to the doctor.  The sinus pain was just too much.  I did get medicine so I should be feeling better soon.  

Now as for running.  Yesterday was a rest day and today I should be running 5 miles however I am going to continue to rest!  I am thinking that I will run again either Friday after school or Saturday!  I know that I will be fine with the race so I am not going to push it too hard!!

Just heard...SCHOOL tomorrow!!!!!! 


Off to make dinner...I hope my kids eat it!

SNOW

Okay so I am sure that most of you know but we got hit with a BLIZZARD!  I would say that we had about 30 inches of snow fall.
This past week kind of sucked for the whole running thing.  During the week I just couldn't seem to get my runs in.  But this weekend I kind of made up for it!

Friday-SNOW DAY!  I got up early and was ready to go running before the snow started...that however didn't happen.  As soon as I was getting my gear ready and on it started to snow.  Not hard but it was snowing.  I headed out not knowing how far I would go.  I knew that I at least wanted to go 4 and was really happy when I ended up going 7.1.  I know that all this running is really paying off because 7 miles seemed so easy!!!  Even though it was running and I basically had to look at my feet for the whole run I had a great run.  By the time I got home there was about an inch or so on the ground.



















Saturday...NO RUNNING ANYWHERE...I think the picture says enough!

Sunday...11 plus miles on the treadmill!!!  I ran 11 miles on a treadmill and I have to say it wasn't so bad, I just did it.  I tried not to think about it I just put the treadmill on 6 MPH and went.  I don't know exactly how far I went but I could figure out that I at least went 11.  Here is what happened.  I was wiping my face when I lost my balance and I shut the treadmill off with the safety.  When I turned it back on it didn't show how far I had gone and I couldn't remember exactly what time I started running.  I knew that it was sometime between 12:20 and 12:40.  I texted Dave at 12:41 to tell him that the plows were coming, which was really exciting because we had been plowed in for over 24 hours.  So to figure that I at least ran 11 miles because I stopped running at 2:25 so if I started at 12:35 and went o 2:25 that would be 11 miles.  I can't believe how great I felt.

Monday-SNOW DAY!!  My run today was a recovery run of 3 miles but I ended up doing 5.1!!  I was again on the treadmill.  I don't know when I will ever be able to get back out there and run outside.  The piles of snow are so high and the roads are still not good.  I am hoping by this weekend I will get back outside but the weather forecast doesn't look good.


Tomorrow should be a rest day.  I will see.  I might take advantage of running because I have yet another snow day.

Still Grading Papers

Well after last nights post I went downstairs and I had a plan to grade, grade, and grade.  However all I did was organize the papers that I needed to be graded.  That was all that I did.  Tonight I did read and grade some stories.  SUCCESS!!

In terms of running I didn't!  I have this DUMB cold and I didn't sleep again last night.  :(  The plan was go get up early and run.  4 miles isn't a long run but to run 4 miles before work is long, especially when I am home with the kids after school by myself.  It just makes for a LONG day.
I will run 4 tomorrow and hope that on Friday and Saturday I will be able to get the other runs in before my last long run on Sunday.  11 miles!
SNOW!! SNOW!! SNOW!!  They say that it is coming.  15+ inches of snow!  I will be excited to have that much snow but I don't want anymore snow days!

Must go grade more papers!!  Really need to find time to grade papers at school.

I missed a run!!!

WOW...I am already in week 8 of my 10 week training plan!  I can't believe that I am in week 8!  This training has gone by so fast!
This is probably the hardest week for me.  First I am not feeling 100%.  I haven't been sleeping either, which means getting up early in the morning to run is that much harder.  I am hoping that I sleep tonight so I can get my run in.  It also gets harder to fit the longer runs in during the week.  
Last week was good expect I did miss one run.  It was a 3 mile run.  More on that to come, first let me recap the week.

Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday: 4:05 miles
Thursday:  3 miles that I missed...I woke up early to run on Thursday morning.  The weather was not good at all.  It was BLOWING and it was raining but the TV said that it was 61 degrees so the last thing that I wanted to do was miss a change to run in the nice warm weather.  I got dressed and went to the door and went right back to bed!!!  The weather had won.  It wasn't just raining.  IT WAS POURING!!!!  I couldn't run after school so I knew that I would miss out on a run.
Friday: 4.42 miles
Saturday: Rest
SUnday: 9.30 miles
Monday: 3.15

Total miles for the week: 20.92 miles
Total miles for 2013: 92.37

This week I am doing the following:

Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday: 4 miles
Thursday: 3 miles
Friday: 5 miles

Sunday: 11 miles
Monday: 3 miles

I wish I could spend more time on this post but I must go grade papers before I fall asleep!!!!!  I have SO many to grade and I am feeling really tired.  I think that sleeping will be easy tonight
